Overview

The National Center on Performance Incentives provides publications related to our focused program of research. As the premier research source on the role of performance incentives in education, the Center publishes books and monographs, working papers, and policy reports. These publications are intended to provide education researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the general public with access to our research findings and their implications for education research, practice, and policy.

The resources posted are in the name of the author(s) and the views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the National Center onPerformance Incentives or sponsoring agencies. Questions about the research, recommendations, and policy proposals contained within these works should be directed to the authors.

The NCPI project presented an opportunity to create a viable
partnership between Vanderbilt University's Peabody College, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, the Metropolitan Nashville Education Association and our community's private sector. Our efforts represent an unprecedented level of cooperation in our city and perhaps the nation. One thing brought us together--a commitment to diligently seek to provide the best possible education for our children while also examining ways to best compensate teachers for excellent work. It is a privilege that our city and Vanderbilt University are at the center of this important national research and discussion." Pamela B. Garrett,
